We're glad you have taken the time to visit the website for the National Federation of Humane Societies.
Did you know the national dog and cat statistics? How many animals are adopted and how many are euthanized every year in US? NFHS is a trade federation dedicated to representing and advocating for the interests of local animal welfare organizations, animal shelters, rescue groups and animal care and control agencies.  Through collaboration and cooperation we know --

"There is a strong voice for animals

when we all speak as one".™

Please spend a few minutes browsing the information contained on our website to learn more about, and gain an in-depth understanding of, the purposes, power and potential of a national trade federation specifically representing your organization and the companion animals we all care so much for.

The animal protection/welfare movement has not had a true federation or similar institution that works for the collective interests of our cause and that binds us together. There are billions of dollars donated to animal causes, principally to thousands of humane societies and other local organizations, but no enduring organization has formed to serve our broader interests. The Federation was created to be just such an institution, created to unite our community and then work collaboratively to advance our larger objectives.

The members truly believe this federation for the animal welfare community has tremendous potential to improve animal sheltering and make a real difference in the lives of companion animals.

We hope you share this vision and will join us as an active member of the National Federation.
